In a case structure, nouns inflect in a declination, a falling away. The word <strong><em>case<\/em><\/strong> comes from a Latin term\u00a0<strong><em>casus<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0which is derived from a verb\u00a0<strong><em>cadere<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and means to fall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"161\" src=\"https:\/\/www.language-cafe.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/9.00.003-1-1024x161.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-772\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.language-cafe.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/9.00.003-1-1024x161.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.language-cafe.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/9.00.003-1-300x47.png 300w, https:\/\/www.language-cafe.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/9.00.003-1-768x121.png 768w, https:\/\/www.language-cafe.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/9.00.003-1.png 1081w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Prepositions occur only as elements of prepositional phrases, which are a noun-phrase introduced by a preposition.
